Covid - 19 Upate!
Long hair, lockdown beard but still very much alive. It's a tough time for everyone in the entertainment business and online shows are the only way forward. The great thing is that we can all reach every corner of the world. I now offer online shows and have even recently performed twice for the same company: Spain, Portugal, Germany, France and the UK covered in a single show... I'm now officially an International Magician! Get in touch for your own personal show!

So entertaining children isn’t ‘proper magic’… well, who cares!! If you love kids and want the best seat in the house then be a kid’s entertainer. There’s nothing better than seeing a crowd of children laughing themselves senseless… and help make a treasured memory for the parents. I can even be booked to keep kids entertained at a wedding before going on to perform close-up for the adults… the best of both worlds! Kid's magician AND close-up magician all at the same event. Enjoy the pictures, and remember, if I can keep 30 sugar-soaked five-year-olds captivated for 2-hours a bunch of drunken executives is easy beans! This time of year signals the end of the summer ‘rush’ with wedding season fading and kid’s holiday clubs packing up and parties confined to weekends. It’s been a busy few months for sure and now I hope to revamp my kid’s show, add new routines to the close-up and prepare for the next big rush… Christmas! It’s already booking up fast throughout November/December so be sure to get in early to have a better chance of availability. A big THANK YOU to everyone who has supported me so far and I hope to see you again in the future.
I’ll leave you with some photos taken at a community Funday in Chesterfield. Strolling magic and regular mini-kid’s shows on a very windy day! It's been a busy month in July; festivals, school proms, weddings and parties. Love the variety that it gives me and have met some fanrastic people along the way. Just a selection of photos to give you the feel:
One of the great sides of my profession is not just the performing but the privilege of meeting so many interesting people. It's nice to get to know a little about them and tbere's always an interesting story to hear. A recent booking was for David who was celebrating his ongoing 5-year recovery from a brain injury; an inspiration to all. Wedding season is upon us and again, it's amazing to be a part of somebody's special day entertaining the guests with close-up and providing something extra magical to remember. Every kid's party I do is also a special occasion; as much for the parents as the birthday child. Happy memories are priceless and I can help take the stress out of the day with a guaranteed fun time! It's great to be asked back to do other birthdays and a huge compliment too. The Christmas period is always a bit crazy with private and works parties; this year seems madder than ever and I will be taking a well-earned rest once it's over. Plenty of space for bookings next year though so just get in touch for a quote or advice on making your occasion that extra bit magical...
Some pics of recent bookings. A stint as the 'Bud-Light Magician' at a few trade fayres around the country (including meeting ex-England and Leicester City striker Emile Heskey) and a great gig working with Little Sam Lyons who is a great vocalist and comedy entertainer... Hi there! One area of magic I enjoy doing is corporate work; always varied, interesting locations and fun to do. I was booked recently by Mercedes for the launch of their new electric Smart Car at Syon House in Brentford. I'm a big fan of Smart cars so it was great to see the public trying them out on the drive of the majestic building. It was a family occasion so close-up for kids and adults throughout the afternoon kept the public entertained. Lucid Group in High Wycombe booked my corporate lecture 'Expand Your Mind'. I spent the morning demonstrating aspects of mind-reading, body language, building confidence and how to train your memory; all aspects which any organisation will find valuable in their workforce. There is even a 20-page booklet explaing the techniques in more detail for everyone to take home. This is all presented with a good dollop of showmanship adding to the fun!
Last week was the Sphere paperback publication day for Louise Jenson’s debut novel, The Sister. Louise booked me (she loves magic!) to be on hand at Waterstone’s in Market Harborough for the launch party and it was a pleasure to be part of the festivities. It was an opportunity to adapt my routines to fit the theme of the night and I even tried some new material to make the magic more bespoke for the event; something I always do for corporate functions. The Sister is a number one best seller and the evening was a celebration of the publication in paperback; I even have my own signed copy now and am enjoying a good read! Louise’s next book, The Surrogate, will be published on September 27th, 2017.
It's been a really busy time the last month; parties, weddings, corporate fun days... in fact I've only had one day off for the past 2 weeks (not complaining though!). Now the schools have broken up I get to perform for holiday clubs too. I do a show followed by a magic and balloon modelling workshop and I always enjoy working with the kids. The pictures below are from a holiday camp I did recently in Colston. Thanks to Jordan for sending me the photos.
One of the great things about being a member of your local magic society (in my case the Leicester Magic Circle) is the number of great lectures you get to see by professional magicians from all over the world. It's great professional development and helps you move forward as a magician. I was lucky enough to be at the Eric Jones lecture last week. Eric was over from the States on his lecture tour (catch him next month on America's Got Talent) and gave a brilliant lecture on some of his favourite effects. The thing I liked about him most was his great teaching style (not to mention amazing magic) and it is so cool to go home enthused about the art and ready to get those coins out!. It helps that he's also a really nice guy too!
A second 'spell' at Bell St. Albans doing a show + workshop for overseas students in the settings of their Hogwarts styled school was followed later in the week by an amazing booking at Warwick Castle for their Staff Party with a War of the Roses theme. Photo opportunities aplenty... a shame my phone conveniently ran out of charge... grrrr. Being surrounded by suits of armour and medieval weaponry in The Great Hall was a perfect backdrop to the occasion.
For the sake of a picture, here's one of Suzy and Keith from a previous wedding. Every couple gets their photo on the backs of playing cards.... |
